Samuel Goodwin's and George White's Companies: 18th Century Reenacting of
The French & Indian War and The American Revolution

About Samuel Goodwin's and George White's Companies

Samuel Goodwin's Company and George White's Company of the 11th Massachusetts Regiment comprise a group of living historians who live in central Maine and strive to accurately recreate the lives and adventures of the men who secured the Kennebec frontier during the years 1745-1763. The Companies represents garrisons, or marching companies: men who were not professional soldiers in the traditional sense, but who were ordinary laborers, craftsmen, merchants, mechanics, etc., who were drafted, recruited, or hired to serve in the military during times of danger or need.

Although our emphasis is primarily on the aspects of military duty, we do encourage members to research and re-create civilian life as well. There is far more to life in the 18th Century than battles and war, and we seek to represent the roles of the common people as well as the soldier.

We are a growing organization whose membership is open to all persons interested in presenting impressions such as militiamen, battoe-men, craftsmen, laborers, or camp followers. Our approach is that reenacting is a wholesome, family activity. We consider ourselves a progressive group in that we are constantly working to improve our impression through research and documentation.

We follow the safety regulations put forth by the Continental Line.
